Gymnastics career throwback! (I’ve never shared these pics on my instagram btw) Gymnastics used to be a massive part of my life. I used to train 4-6 times a week depending on the competition season. I started off as a top (flyer) when I was younger. Then moved to a base when I was about 15 years old. Gymnastics gave me such a strong foundation of discipline. I had undiagnosed ADHD as a child so training helped me to develop a lot of focus! I am so grateful for all of the solid friendships that I made over my 14 year career. Some highlights included representing Australia at the world championships in Glasgow (2008), Wrocław (2010) and Paris (2014 in the senior division). Also winning national titles in 2005, 2008 and 2011. It dominated my life and to this day (even though I’ve been retired for 10 years now) I still have weekly dreams of doing the sport. Often in my dreams, I’m missing a competition, running late to trainings, messing up certain skills, being screamed at by the coaches…call it mild PTSD if you will. Now I can barely do a wheel pose (back bend) without it hurting my back. It’s funny how quickly you lose certain skills in your body. Anyway I hope you’ve enjoyed this thread 🧵
