Why I Train Dogs the Way I Do This won’t be a how-to checklist. It’s the why behind everything. Dog training, to me, isn’t about commands or control, it’s about clarity. A dog that understands expectations can move through the world with confidence. A dog that doesn’t ends up anxious, confused, or shut down. I train slow on purpose. I build engagement before obedience. Most issues I see later in training don’t start later—they start early. Rushing foundations. Skipping relationship. Asking for too much before a dog understands how to learn. Every dog I work with gets the same starting point: • Trust before pressure • Consistency over intensity • Clear communication, every day • Accountability without emotion I need a dog that can think, settle, and show up when it matters, whether that’s in training, in the field, or in everyday life. If you’re here, it tells me you care about doing things right. This page is where I’ll share the real conversations, lessons, and decisions that shape good dogs and strong partnerships. This is just the beginning. Thanks for being here 🤍🐾 Training Tip to Take With You: Before asking your dog for anything, make sure you have their attention. No command matters if the dog isn’t mentally present. Start every session by rewarding eye contact or engagement even for a few seconds (1-3 pieces of kibble). That small habit will change how your dog learns, responds, and stays connected to you. Create Engagement.
